HISTORICAL GATE OF DAVIES MODEL AGRICULTURE FARM AND FARMER’S HOUSE, FARIDKOT

This Gate was established in the year 1910 as a stud farm of the Erstwhile ruler of Faridkot state. Formerly, it had a nice little garden having a small artificial hill and a tank for boating in the centre. The gate was designed by Sardar Bahadur Sardar Dayal Singh Man, President, Council of Regency, Faridkot State and the foundation stone was laid on February 18, 1910 by The Honourable Colonel H.S. Davies, Commissioner and Supdt. Jullundur Division, Political, Political Agent for the State. The farm was established to improve the general state of agriculture and to practically demonstrate to the agriculturists, the sowing of selected seeds for crops like wheat, cotton, sugarcane and others, and the use of improved implements and modern scientific methods. A dairy and poultry sections were also attached to the farms.

Description: The gate is 6.8 meters high from the middle and 4.4 meters high from the sides.
